Off Grid Living

Allows people to be self-sufficient

Are you looking to live the off-grid life or “Boon Dock” as we in the RV world say? In our years of rving (since 2010) we have learned the hard way what we need to boondock in comfort.

As you travel on the expressway from state to state there are truck stops that are very convenient to stay overnight.

These truck stops are called FlyingJ, Pilot, Loves or Travel America (TA).

As you will see from the video below they are really quite nice and very safe to spend the night.

They are full-service gas stations that include a restaurant, showers and laundry facilities.

The store that has everything a traveler could ever need or want while traveling. However, you do have to pump your own gas.

If you get a discount card (It’s free for the asking) you receive .03 off per gallon of gas, .05 off propane and dumping is $5.00 so it’s well worth asking for the card.

Better hurry in asking though, I heard that they may be discontinuing giving the cards out but they still honor the cards out there.

If you drive professionally you can get the “professional card” you can earn points for free showers and store purchases.

Another MUST HAVE in boondocking for us is a generator. Watch our review on this awesome Goal Zero Yeti 400 solar generator here.
